Abstract:

This chapter explores the concept of an international human right to determine one's own gender identity. It evaluates the success of human rights claims by transsexuals and the basis for recognizing such claims. It concludes by explaining the apparent paradox of the greater success of transsexuals in seeking human rights than similar claims by homosexuals.
