Abstract: Magdalen College in Oxford was founded in 1458 by William Waynflete, Bishop of Winchester. This article discusses the role of Sir John Fastolf, a special benefactor of the college, in the founding. As this article explains, Fastolf’s property played a significant role in enabling Bishop Waynflete to establish Magdalen College.
