Abstract: The thirtieth anniversary of the Yearbook of International Environmental Law presents an opportunity to take stock of how international environmental law has developed since 1990, both as a subject area and as a discipline. In this essay, I briefly outline the foundational elements of international environmental law–which to a significant degree had been laid as of 1990–and my top ten list of developments since then.
